Hannah Claridge on Instagram: "GET RID OF /UH/ ➡️If we are teaching letter sounds with the added /UH/, sounding out words in reading gets trickier to BLEND and words get harder to SPELL. ‼️Letter sounds need to be CLEAR & CONCISE. 🌟A easy sound identification game is pointing to objects and saying “what’s the first sound in ___?” ^if they are sliding into the habit of adding the /UH/, help them hear it in words you break apart the sounds to! (Ex. Play would be P/UH/ - L - A - Y/UH/) No more /UH/ in letter sounds, unless it’s short u ‼️ (I put it in slashes because that means it’s a sound) Reading is a science, not a secret 💫 SAVE for later ✨ #scienceofreading #parenting #readingparents #kids #homeschool #scienceofreadingresources #kidsreading #readingtips #english #letters #lea

If you’re practicing vowel teams, write EE or OA, etc. 2️⃣ Write one beginning or ending sound on each post it you stick around it. 3️⃣ Have students create words! They can be real or nonsense words – the goal here is to give them practice sounding out and then blending together phonemes. 💡 Bonus tip for students who are struggling: Have them pick up the Post-its they’re using and stick them down below the magic square so all of the letters are in one straight line. That makes it easie
