Early support from Pearson Sound, Pariah, CCL, Jay Carder, Roni, and more.
As the first transatlantic signing for the label, Doctor Jeep brings a dynamic fusion of genres, paying homage to his Latin American roots whilst pushing the boundaries of Baile Funk, UK Bass, & Broken Techno.
Following his collaboration on Madam X’s Homecoming Ep, coming straight off the back of a European tour & release on TraTraTrax, it’s no surprise that André Lira’s cross-pollinating sounds marks a milestone for the KAIZEN 10 year birthday.
Tracklist:
1.) Assassino
2.) Pula Perereka
3.) Cyber Funk
Assassino sets the tone with high-energy intensity at 150 BPM. Merging Baile Funk, complex drum patterns & techno, the real "sound the alarm" deadly Dubstep switchup SKREAMS 2004 nostalgia. Paying homage to the Dubstep glory years of Benga, Mala & Coki, echoing the classic sounds of FWD & DMZ, it’s a fierce Dj weapon, armed to murdah dancefloors.
Pula Perereka is a playful fusion of Baile Funk & wobbly UK Bass that rides an infectious beat & quirky frog croak. Yes, you read correctly. A staple in Pearson Sound’s Dj sets with plays all across the festival circuit, the boundaries of straight-fire bangers & tongue-in-cheek techno are forever evolving.
Cyber Funk blends the worlds of Electro & Baile Funk. Channelling the robotic essence of Kraftwerk & Detroit techno underneath a repetitive "cha-cha-cha" vocal & sharp snare hit, it’s the perfect genre-bending approach to André’s influences in underground club music, highlighting his Brazilian roots & a decade of NYC rave culture.
Doctor Jeep’s connection with Madam X goes back to when he received one of the first KAIZEN hoodies. Their paths crossed again in 2019 with a joint performance at Elsewhere club. Bringing Doctor Jeep into the KAIZEN family feels like a natural progression, reinforcing the label's ethos of fostering close-knit, innovative artist relationships.
