Abstract

This paper presents a parallel performance assessment of the message-passing version of the STAR-CD commercial thermofluids analysis code being ported under the EUROPORT-1 initiative for distributed-memory architectures. Encouraging benchmark performance data are reported for an IBM SP2 for two real-world applications taken from the automotive industry. The scalability achieved is assessed with respect to identifying potential areas for improvement and the absolute performance is compared to that on conventional vector supercomputer and SMP systems.
