PACE is not only MARVIN HORSCH’s debut release but it also marks the birth of DORFJUNGS, the latest la- bel in the Kompakt distribution roster. It’s almost as if so far MARVIN HORSCH had deliberately limited himself to a few live acts and shown little of his music so that his first release would get all the more attention.
PACE (Italian for peace) is the name of the first track and the motto of this first release – an attempt to concentrate MARVIN HORSCH’s multi-layered sound on a 12“. This club hit is a perfect introduction to the intricate, playful and yet clearly de ned sound experiments of MARVIN HORSCH.
In Gemüsegärtner these experiments are further developed and the provocative intro noises expand into a seducing tune without taking away from the initial ten- sion. Far from it.
Myybe Happy opens the flipside of this multi-facetted record. It starts as an innocent, playful and light-foot- ed piece before taking on a wonderfully optimistic mood which shows a distinct Cologne in influence.
Orangutanz is the radical, uncompromising and dynamic closing track, lashing its way through a forest full of dark, confused and pulsating sounds.
