space invader Dance floor’s spilling over Just found my little space here comes uninvited from behind Hemmed in a body line Face brushed by your dank hair Your repellent smoke breath No room to move or raise an arm Stifled another dance hey move over trouble maker my space invader not this time show you’ve got some consideration You go your way I’ll go mine talks in precious moments eclipse the singer’s focus Paralysed I make no fuss But you’re oblivious Want to see right through you Hopeless thinking you’ll move ignoring everyone around your night out on the town hey move over space invader you go your way i’ll go mine
2.
Hidden Girl 03:51
Hidden Girl Just out of sight lurking Been there since who knows when Another mystery person Imaginary friend Shrined in cobwebs and darkness Abandoned spider skin Damp is rising around us Decay is setting in Then I open the door on your haunting disguise Face painted still, daylight’s caught you by surprise Hidden girl tell me your secret Stare silent but dead beat Intoxicating grin Captured moment of history Eternity within Brushed strokes of genius A mirror like visage Wishing that you could join us Escape into my heart Then I open the door on your haunting disguise Face painted still, daylight’s caught you by surprise Hidden girl tell me your secret
3.
Broken Keys 03:30
Broken keys Glued to you from the start Weaned off television Impossible to part Or so we thought, but now I’m breaking up inside When I realised that you lied Everyone. Something’s wrong. My broken keys, a hammer falls, i’m leaning to one side A senseless sideshow, how can this be right? Im suffering so how can this be right? Why did our music end tonight? Played records from the past Sparks and Plastic Bertrand We fumbled in the dark Things were going wrong when I Abandoned in your cart Stood by and watched you depart Everything. Crumbled in. My broken keys, a hammer falls, i’m leaning to one side A senseless sideshow, how can this be right? Im suffering so how can this be right? Why did our music end tonight?
4.
Lost Summer 03:23
Lost summer I’m moving way out wide See you on the other side Can’t make out your smile You’re Untouchable in my eyes Such a long long time on my own Forgotten how it feels to be one Lost summertime Missed your sunshine My solitude’s not right I’m alone again, home again tonight Just want back my life Make everything turn around in time Such a long long time on my own Forgotten how it feels to be one Lost summertime Missed your sunshine
5.
Dreaming 04:30
Dreaming I can’t see you in the dark But I hear everything I can’t tell objects apart They draw my senses in Dreaming, dreaming, dreaming Shadows coming to life They’re looking back at me A Silhouetted disguise I Find it hard to breathe Imagination untied I feel you nearing me Curtains calling tonight I’m trying not to scream But you turn me right over Shed a light on my cover I thought you were in here Hoped that you’d disappear Stop me feeling this fear
6.
Missed 04:22
Missed Calling, wishing that you’d walk in Distance overwhelming Like a puzzle piece removed Sunk in, tears no longer waiting Memories remaining Feel your presence in my room Missed that closeness to you lately Living there with your new faces Reuniting us soon absence makes my heart grow stronger Repeat Drawn in, so much i’m absorbing Photographs enthral me Like a sketch of your new life Fearing, gonna lose you again Clock is always ticking need more minutes in my hours
7.
Fall 03:29
Fall Made to be Loving at home You played a part in me Our happy Union Set me free Running from Rome Such bureaucracy How could you let me fall Empathy Pushed it aside Forgot the truth Infectious lies Channel deep Swim it alone It’s a tragedy How could you let me fall Imagine one last time Our friendship held the line Collaboration’s prime Unending valentine Instead you let me fall
8.
Better without you Clean break, fresh start friends like us are never better apart Unhooked, vice gone what will you do when you’re left on your own Live hard, play young tell a lie and I’ll never let on Future’s begun what would you say to a little last one Calls in, my head there’s nothing here you will ever regret No way, fight that Must be a way of tempting you back I’m doing better without you it’s easy being two I’m feeling better without you it’s what you wanna do I’m living better without you come closer i’ll help too I’m so much better without you i’ll stop that feeling
9.
Broken hearted Forced us into goodbye Song’s silent voice so dry Broken hearted Swallow my last tear Mixed view through blurry eyes Final time by my side Broken hearted Love torn apart here Your smile, I hear you laugh But it’s just a photograph Broken hearted Lost someone so dear Contained but free outside Whispers to sorrowed minds Broken hearted Suddenly parted Broken hearted Swallow my last tear Broken hearted Love torn apart here

about

“Encapsulation” is the second album from Brighton, UK duo Dreamcoaster (previously called Dreams of Empire). Written and recorded during lockdown in 2020, the 10-track album shows a maturing of the shoegaze/dreampop band’s songwriting as it floats between catchy guitar drenched indie and dreamy, softer moments.

The band were all set to record as a five piece in February after successful live shows, but lockdown in the UK kept them apart so Andrew Craig (instruments) and partner Jane (vocals) finished writing and recording the album in their home studio, with mixing completed remotely by Steve Whitfield (The Cure, Pale Saints), himself working in isolation.

“Encapsulation” lyrically encapsulates the feelings of being encapsulated during a pandemic lockdown. Paranoia about personal space, missing loved ones, and lost opportunity are recurring themes throughout the album.
