about

Originally written about those moments at gigs when people ruin your night by standing unnecessarily close. Then gigs stopped. But we found ourselves in a new world where social distancing was the norm and nobody wanted to be, or be near, a space invader.

lyrics

space invader

Dance floor’s spilling over
Just found my little space here
comes uninvited from behind
Hemmed in a body line

Face brushed by your dank hair
Your repellent smoke breath
No room to move or raise an arm
Stifled another dance

hey move over
trouble maker
my space invader
not this time

show you’ve got some
consideration
You go your way
I’ll go mine

talks in precious moments
eclipse the singer’s focus
Paralysed I make no fuss
But you’re oblivious

Want to see right through you
Hopeless thinking you’ll move
ignoring everyone around
your night out on the town

hey move over
space invader
you go your way
i’ll go mine
