"Of Chaos and Eternal Night" is the EP standing between the debut “Skydancer” and the all-time masterpiece “The Gallery”. Recorded in 1995, this EP is again a crucial piece of the band's history and an excellent example of the early Gothenburg sound and a preview of what was to come for DarkTranquillity.

The four tracks on the EP were recorded during the same sessions as their legendary debut album. This is evident in the raw, energetic, and highly atmospheric sound that defines both releases.

The EP serves as a bridge between the rawer, more aggressive style of their early demos and the more refined, melodic direction they would take later. The songs on the EP are characterized by their intricate and melancholic guitar harmonies, a hallmark of the melodic death metal genre. The dual guitar work of Niklas Sundin and Fredrik Johansson is a highlight, weaving together complex melodies and blistering riffs. Anders Fridén's raw and powerful screams, his last recorded work with the band before leaving to join In Flames, add a layer of intense emotion to the music. "Of Chaos and Eternal Night" stands as a vital release for fans of the Gothenburg scene.
