The legendary kings of hammondbeat, LINK QUARTET from Italy, have released six records, several singles, digital releases and appeared on numerous compilations and guest appearances since 1993 already. Now the jazzy, funky instrumental quartet around the virtuosic Paolo 'Apollo' Negri release yetanother fantastic record, this time on Sound Flat Records, that has a Mod/soul/jazz-feeling to it.

'Minimal Animal' is all LINK QUARTET-originals and all instrumentals with absolutely divine, mindblowing hammond-organ-soli, a jazzy beat, groovy guitars and catchy melodies. Incredibly cool, funky, danceable sounds (such as 'Black Bug') mixed with one or the other calmer song with laid-back jazzy wah-wah sounds and finally even groovy, ska/rocksteady-offbeat, hammond-driven songs like 'Peacock Steady' altogether combine into a well-rounded album from beginning to end.

Italian Playboys is the album by the finest italian acid jazzers masters Link Quartet. Just a little taste of what’s to come in Italian Playboys with a more complete sound and even more mature (if possible!) than in both previous albums. Not only Hammond beat, the real band’s trademark, but also hints of funk, spaceage beat, sitar groove and sprinkling of dancefloor jazz in this album strongly influenced by Small Faces, Brian Auger, James Taylor Quartet and Jean-Jacques Perrey. Italian Playboys includes nine original songs from the classic 6T’s beat styled title track to the introspective After and Once Again, along with a selection of rarely attempted covers including the heavy funk of Jon Lord on Rubber Monkey, an uplifting interpretation of Jack McDuff’s Briar Patch (an alternate version will also appear on the forthcoming McDuff tribute album from Scufflin’ Records), and a scorching slice out of the library classic Move, Move, Move. A part from the extraordinaire DJ NINFA we’ve just mentioned, It Italian Playboys also features Doug Roberson of mod fave The Diplomats of Solid Sound (USA) on guitar for the rich robust jazz of Portofino Vespa Rider, Eddie Roberts of deep funk superstars The New Mastersounds (UK) on sitar for the spicy Spider Baby, and Arnaldo Dodici vocals on the monster Zombies style pop Janine. Hammond-Funksters The Link Quartet formed way back in 1993, and over the years have built a worldwide reputation and have become one of the most distinguishing bands related to the Hammond organ sound. Secret Sessions celebrates their 25 year milestone, providing some of the best tracks from the band.
Last year, the band spent time touring around Italy, France, Spain, Belgium and Germany, working on new songs and building a new strong and dynamic collective sound. It was at this time that the band decided on the idea to release a live album recorded in the studio, during a three-day event. The event took place in November 2018, at Tanzan Music Studio, resulting in a new live studio album, containing all the best tracks of the Iatalian combo performed live and recorded as never before. All the energy of the quartet has been transferred on album for the first time, and will give the listener a new and unique perspective of the band’s attitude.

Fue en ese momento cuando la banda decidió la idea de lanzar un álbum en vivo grabado en el estudio, durante un evento de tres días. El evento tuvo lugar en noviembre de 2018, en Tanzan Music Studio, dando como resultado un nuevo álbum de estudio en vivo, que contiene todos los mejores temas del combo Iatalian interpretados en vivo y grabados como nunca antes. Toda la energía del cuarteto se ha transferido en álbum por primera vez, y dará al oyente una perspectiva nueva y única de la actitud de la banda.
