Singularized plural of *vallë, from Proto-Albanian *walwā, a derivative of Proto-Indo-European *wel- (to turn, wind, round). Close to Latin volvō (to roll)[1] Ancient Greek εἰλύω (eilúō, to roll up, wrap). See vjell and vjel.
