Etymology
From Middle High German wurm, from Old High German wurm, from Proto-West Germanic *wurmi, from Proto-Germanic *wurmiz (“worm, snake”). Doublet of Sette Comuni dialect bórm (“worm”). Cognate with German Wurm, English worm.
