[edit]From Ancient Greek Εὐφόρβιον (Euphórbion), from Εὔφορβος (Eúphorbos, “Euphorbus”) + -ιον (-ion, “-ium”). The name is from Εὔφορβος (Eúphorbos, “well-fed”); εὖ (eû, “well”) + φορβή (phorbḗ, “food, fodder”).
