Phoblacht na hÉireann is the direct translation of Republic of Ireland, but it is not normally used in any official document. EG, I think it only ever once appeared on an Irish Postal stamp. Eire is on all money, stamps, official documents, and is the name required by the 1937 constitution. Denis (in Ireland.)

"usage note - This use of the term Ireland to describe the southern state is seen as deeply offensive and sectarian by all sections of the community in Northern Ireland." This statement seems very dubious. It needs qualifation.
