From Hindustani چُوہْڑا (cūhṛā) / चूहड़ा (cūhṛā).

Noun

[edit]

chuhra (plural chuhras)

  1. A member of the Chuhra caste in India
  2. (India, Pakistan, offensive) Any lower-caste person.
  3. (Pakistan, Christianity, ethnic slur, religious slur, offensive) A Hindu or (especially) a Christian convert from a lower caste.
    • 2018, Kamran Chaundhry, UCA News[1]
"During a heated discussion of the budget, Abbasi called me churha (low caste). This is an insult to all religious minorities in Pakistan. His leader is also prejudiced. We only accept a Pakistan where there is no discrimination of color, cast [sic] or faith," said Tariq Gill, the Christian parliamentary secretary for human rights and minorities.
