Etymology

Blend of rheumatoid arthritis +‎ lupus. Coined by Austrian-born American rheumatologist Peter H. Schur in 1971.

  1. (pathology) A rare condition characterized by overlapping features of both rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
