In the village of Aghar Jitto (Dharkot) on the banks of Chandrabhaga river (The Chenab river) in Jammu province, Baba Jitmal Ji was born in the house of Shree Roop Chandra Ji, the best in the Brahmans of the Makhallauta caste, in Kartik month of year 1457 that happened to the full moon. His mother's name was Janja.

Baba Jitmal was one of the highest devotees of Vaishnavi Durga. His daughter was actually a incarnation of the goddess Durga. She was known by the names Kanya Bua Kaudi, Kauri Bua, or Bua Kauri.

In the young age, Baba Jitmal Ji had to give self-sacrifice against injustice at the time of the distribution of his crop, and Bua Kaudi also became sati in the burning pyre with her father.

Both of these divine souls are worshiped in the form of total God today by the name of Bawa Baba.

Shakti's incarnation Bua Kaudi and Shiva's incarnation Baba Jitmalji's Samadhi Temple was built by Shuddhu-Buddha, the two trader brothers in Jhiri village and the responsibility of the service of the temple was given to Goswami Nathu Shah ji.

The devotees who go there with full devotion and belief, meditate on their name and read, narrate and listen to their stories, all their wishes are fulfilled.

Background

Bua Bawa Ji Temple, Jhiri

In the Jammu region, near Riyasis and Katra about four miles from Katra, Roop Chandra Bhrahman lived with his wife Janja in the village of Agar Jito (Dharkkot).

Roop Chandra and Jana were both husband and wife of religious tendencies and used to spend most of their time in worship and good deeds. As there was no child of this Brahmin couple, so Janaja started worshiping Lord Shiva in the shiv temple of the village.

Mata Vaishno, Jhiri Temple

The worship of Mata Janja was near its entirety, that in the provocation of the people, Roop Chandra ji came to the temple with a desire to kill his wife by taking a blade in his hand. At the same time, celestial announcement took place that the wife you want to kill will give birth to a divine child who will be the exclusive devotee of Vaishnavi Durga and Vaishnavi Durga will be born as his daughter. But the blade that you have taken in your hand with the intention to kill your wife, the same blade will cause the death of your child.

Because of the curse of Lord Shiva to RoopChandra ji , Baba Jitamal sacrificed his own self with the same skull against the injustice done by Veer Singh. Baua Kauri became sati with her father in the funeral pyre.

Baba Jittal Ji appeared with the blessings of Lord Shiva from the womb of mother Jaanjaa, that is why he is considered the incarnation of Lord Shiva. Bau Kauri herself was an incarnation of Goddess Durga, so she is worshiped in the form of Dasam Shakti.
