I believe in this page; we should write about the culture, language, music, customs, and traditions of Turkic people who live in southern Azerbaijan, but now it is more about how they similar to the Persian, or what they did for the IRAN!!. I want to modify this page and make more like the other ethnic groups' pages. I think Catalan and Scottish People pages can be a good reference for organizing this page. Format/Information
The format for this page is extremely horrendous: very disorganized, scattered, various and numerous plots.
This page needs to be butchered and rebuilt. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.25.11.37 (talk) 18:33, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
Ban of Azeri publications
It would be helpful if this claim could be sourced with evidence, as to my knowledge, Reza Shah banned all languages except for Persian from official use, but did not ban the speaking of or writing literature in Azeri, Kurdish etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.199.214.116 (talk) 00:52, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Removing 'indigenous'
I really think it is incorrect to say that Azeris are "indigenous" here and there, since (to put it very bluntly) they are a by product of intermixing of Turks and Persians. "Indigenous" would mean they were there before everyone else -- this isn't true, considering Armenians, Assyrians, and others were there far before the Azeri identity even existed. "Local" might work better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sam41ir (talk • contribs) 07:38, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
Offensive title
This page is about Turkic people who live in south Azerbaijan, they are independent people, that have their own identity and culture. How the combination of “Iranian Azerbaijanis ” can describe Turkic people who leave in southern Azerbaijan? It is the same as using English scotlandis instead of using Scottish people or instead of Kurds in turkey use Turkish Kurdistanis. Please tell me how can I change this offensive title. I believe Wikipedia should have a mechanism for confronting racism. P — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fariborz26 (talk • contribs) 21:15, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- And maybe you could read history and refrain from baseless accusations against Wiki community like "I believe Wikipedia should have a mechanism for confronting racism". Iranian Azerbaijanis are, indeed, Iranians since their history and culture are Iranian and they are Iranian citizens. Also, genetic studies clearly show that Iranian Azerbaijanis belong to the Iranian gene pool : I quote from this source "present day Iranian main genetic stock comes from the ancient autochthonous people and a genetic input from eastern people would be a minor one" and this source says "Iranian Azeris have the closest genetic distance to Iranian Kurds and there is no significant difference between these two populations and other major ethnic groups of Iran". As a last word, Wikipedia has an article about the Azerbaijani people and i would suggest you to sign your comments.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 01:30, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, I could not agree with you. 1- Recent DNA test sampling results show that the majority of people in Southern Azerbaijan carried the DNA of Caucasus region not Iranian or Kurdish. However, I believe the Origin part should entirely be deleted, since people in Azerbaijan have the variety of groups of DNA (like rest of the world). So writing about their Origin is not making sense anymore. 2- Countries and borders are changed over time, so nationality should not represent the name of the minority ethnic group that live in that country. Therefore, I think we should change the title, and choose something like Turks in Southern Azerbaijan.Fariborz26 (talk) 20:33, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
- Do you have a reliabe supporting your claim ? How are south Azerbaijanis related to Caucasus in recent DNA research ? The sources i provided above are recent and completeley contradict what you're saying. The first one is a 2017 source and the second a 2007 source.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 21:34, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
