The Carolean Express is a named British passenger train operated by LNER. It is operated by Class 801s between London King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley via the East Coast Main Line.[1][2][3]
The term Carolean refers to the reign of Charles III, and was first used during the reign of Charles II (1660–1685).[4] The service was introduced on 6 May 2023 when LNER named its 11:00 service on the same day as the Coronation of Charles III and Camilla. It calls at York, Darlington, Newcastle and Berwick-upon-Tweed.[5]
