The battle of Re'im (Hebrew: קרב רעים, Arabic: معركة رعيم) took place on 7 October 2023, when Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood during the October 2023 Gaza−Israel conflict.[4][3] At 10:00 am, less than five hours after Operation Al-Aqsa Flood began, fighting was reported outside of the Re'im Army Base, which is headquarters for the Gaza Division.[4] It was later reported that Hamas took control of the Re'im Army Base and had taken several Israeli soldiers captive.[3] Later in the day, Israeli Defense Forces regained control of the military base.[5][6]
