Retooling this article
[edit]I retooled the main text from this article, because it was pretty sparse, and was not in line with the Manual of Style. I kept all of the episode listings. Here's the original text (for posterity).

- A character on the TV Show Dark Shadows.
- He was played by David Selby. First appearing as a ghost in the present day (1968) storyline, the :character was at the forefront of the 1897 flashback storyline, in which he became a werewolf. Quentin :Collins first appeared in episode 646 and was included in nearly every episode after.
- The character of Quentin Collins eventually became very popular with fans of the show, particularly :with females; his popularity even rivalled that of the show's resident vampire Barnabas Collins.
- David Selby also played Quentin in 1971's Night of Dark Shadows which was based on, but in an :alternate timeline to, Dark Shadows. The basic plot was that Quentin Collins, an artist, and his wife :move into his ancestral home and find themselves plagued by ghosts and spirits of his ancestors; one :of whom was hung as a witch.
Quentin II history is wrong
[edit]As I recall, Magda Racosi, not Petofi, turned Quentin into a werewolf out of anger when Quentin murdered her sister, his wife. Quentin had killed her in self-defense, but Magda didn't believe it and anger overcame her. She later regretted it and told Quentin how to cure his lycanthropy with the artifact known as The Hand of Count Petofi. His hand preceded him, but later Petofi himself came into the picture to get his hand back, with which he could then take over the world, or something. He lost it the first time when the gypsies cornered him, cut it off, and turned him into a werewolf. Petofi cured his lycanthropy somehow, and offered to cure Quentin. Instead, however, Petofi pulled the old mind/body switcheroo on Quentin, and the future was changed when Petofi-as-Quentin forced Barnabas to send him back to 1969 and some weird crap happened, and Quentin got his body back, but I forget the details. 0-0-0-Destruct-0 19:53, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
OK the first part of your account is correct. Quentin was made a werewolf by Magda after he killed her sister. Whether or not it was self defense is debatable, since had her subdued before he decided to kill her. Then, after Magda realized that Quentin's children (also gypsies) would be affected by the curse, she decided to help cure him by stealing the hand of Petofi. The gypsies originally obtained Petofi's hand as payment for curing his werewolf curse in 1797. When Petofi and his servant Aristede discovered that the hand was in Collinsport they came to look for it, since Petofi knew he would die if he did not recover the hand within 100 years of when he lost it. Eventually, Petofi did acquire the hand and reattached it. Petofi later died at the hands of Garth Blackwood, a demon he summoned to kill his servant who had inadvertently betrayed him. Chiggity check yourself before you wreck yourself next time. 0-0-0-Destruct-0 22:30, 24 April 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.248.167.61 (talk)

The four Quentin Collins
[edit]Quentin's initial appearance was as "The ghost of Quentin Collins" in episode 646 after David discovered his corpse in the hidden room. He did not speak until episode 701, although he did laugh in episode 689. This was the ghost of Quentin who had been shot by Beth Chavez on Sept. 10, 1897 and was the son of Gabriel and Edith Collins and brother of Edward, Judith and Carl. When Barnabas traveled back to 1897 he prevented Quentin's death, but Quentin became a werewolf who was still alive in 1969, his curse cured by a portrait which assumed the wolf-form for him (a la Dorian Gray). He even got to meet his great-grandson, the werewolf Chris Jennings. He is believed to have still existed in the 1995 flashforward sequence, but was not seen. This character was in episodes 646 to 1113.
The first Quentin Collins (born 1808) was seen in the 1840 flashback sequence and was the brother of Gabriel Collins (therefore, the uncle of the future werewolf Quentin). This character was featured in episodes 1120 to 1197.
There are two parallel-time (alternate universe) versions of Quentin. A version in 1841 who was the son of Justin and Flora Collins from episode 1195 to 1230 when David Selby got appendicitis. The show was canceled before he recovered. Prior to this was the 1970 parallel time version who was the Master of Collinwood, the widowed husband of Angelique Stokes, who returned to life shortly after his marriage to Maggie Evans. This Quentin was in episodes 981 to 1060.
I will try to do some cleanup on this page, as it currently lists the original 1840 Quentin as being the first one in the series chronology. NightBear (talk) 16:38, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

When did Edith Collins really die
[edit]This might sound dumb but i need help here. If Gabriel killed Edith in 1840 how is she still alive in 1897 as an old lady ? 2A02:2149:8A5E:3D00:38D8:55A2:6128:8761 (talk) 19:45, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
