Columbine High School massacre

[edit]

"Hey there,

I noticed that you've contributed a significant portion, around 30%, to the Columbine High School massacre, and I must say, it's really well done! I'm genuinely curious about what drew you to this topic and how you went about researching it. Thanks a bunch!" MajesticRZ (talk) 18:33, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MajesticRZ: Kind of you to notice. It's a subject I could write a book on, and had to stop short of doing "original research." There is much of the usual story that requires revision. Reading "the 11k," the Jeffco/CNN CD, and playing video games from the time, seem the best way to research it. I think what drew me to the topic is the obvious absurdity of the usual story, and the absurdities being only countered with fanfiction from followers. For one, on the usual story the cafeteria bombs have failed at 11:17, and they move to "plan b" because of it, yet they are saying a bomb is about to explode the entire time in the library from 11:30 to 11:35, contradicting that story. They also toss pipe bombs at the bombs in order to detonate them, not just for fun, and that shows by itself how silly is the usual story. Tossing one was an easy alternative to moving to "plan B". Your GA nomination of Heraclitus

[edit]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Heraclitus you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Patrick Welsh -- Patrick Welsh (talk) 20:22, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should send it to WP:peer review first, as there's more major issues. The biggest is that it's mostly a series of short sub-sections, some only a few sentences long. These should be summarized into bigger sections, such as "early history" or "later history", etc. There's also enough cross-pollination with Continental philosophy that both articles should have a section comparing them to each other, with a lot of the same wording and sourcing. Harizotoh9 (talk) 04:10, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to try and flesh them out. I wouldn't oppose a section comparing/contrasting with continental philosophy. Cake (talk) 04:14, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is probably enough book chapters and academic papers to make a full article on the subject contrasting the two as it frequently comes up. I'm just that I'm not up to it. Harizotoh9 (talk) 08:42, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Image sources?

[edit]

How confident are you that this image is from 1924? The URL you provided as a source is dead. DS (talk) 21:38, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's unfortunate the link was moved, but yes it was in a program printed prior to the game on October 18, 1924. Here it is again. Cake (talk) 23:37, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. I've imported the file to Commons, which I would've been reluctant to do if you hadn't been able to track that provenance. DS (talk) 15:09, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and just in case you were a) unaware of this detail and b) fretting about this, the import process means that the uploads are still attributed to you. DS (talk) 15:32, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable non-free use File:1925 Alabama Crimson Tide football team photo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:1925 Alabama Crimson Tide football team photo.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Lee Nalley (ca 1949).jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Lee Nalley (ca 1949).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Josh Milburn (talk) 16:07, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
