Daniel Cardoso

[edit]

We can't seem to upload a picture from Daniel Cardoso. We noticed you did it with Kris Rygg, but everytime we upload one from Danil it gets deleted. Can you please help us? If possible just take it from Daniel's MySpace and upload it on his wikipedia page. Thank you

Image Tagging Image:Mindpre2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mindpre2.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Sherool (talk) 00:35, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rapp.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. ICS Vortex

[edit]

Just wanted to notify you. Vortex was not performing on Stormblåst (re-recorded) because Shagrath and Silenoz decided to do the job themselves with the help from Hellhammer. You remove the record from his discography list I didn't want to temper the article (Vandalize it) since you did most work for it. I think he had nothing to do with the Stormblast promo either but I don't know??? See ya! Death2 21:31, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Avant-garde

[edit]

Hello again Karpsmom. I wanted to say that I've added some comments on the Talk:Avant_garde_metal page. I know you work on that subject and related bands so I just wanted to notify you. If you have some time please read that. You can give me a couple of comments too if you'd like.

On another matter I would like to ask for your help if you know something about this. Is Blasphemers (Mayhem, aura noir guitarist) real name Rune Erickson or Rune Eriksen. (see Talk:Mayhem (band) for more info on this). And also what is going on with Ved Buens Ende. Nobody mentioned Czral is better after his fall, I'm not sure the band is reuniting so soon. Thank you! Connor McClure

[edit]

Hi Karpsmom. I noticed that you've been making several additions to the article Connor McClure, I was doing some research on him and came up with nothing. Wikipedia uses only verifiable information, none of which is found on Connor McClure's page. It seems as if the article is an autobiography and might be more appropriate for FaceBook or MySpace. If I've made a mistake please let me know, but unfortunately I'm not sure that the aforementioned article is one that should be kept on Wikipedia.

On 01-June, you blanked Norsecore. Blanking pages is generally considered a bad idea. I've reverted it to the previous version. If this was the result of a broken edit, you may wish to make the correct edits. If you believe the redirect should be deleted, please follow the redirect portion of the deletion procedures. If you believe an article should be written instead of the redirect, please write a stub. If you have questions, please let me know. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 23:26, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia image policy

[edit]

Hello Karpsmom. I have looked through your upload log, and need to mention several important points of Wikipedia's image use policy to you.

  1. Most importantly, please remember that Wikipedia is a free content project. Our goal is to create an encyclopedia that is useable anywhere, by anyone. As such we have tight restrictions on the use of copyrighted unfree content, including photographs. One of the rules, fair use criterion #1, says that unfree images can only be used when it is not possible to create or procure a free alternative. You have uploaded dozens of unfree images of living, active musicians that are used solely for the purpose of identification. Since these people could still be photographed, or existing photographs released under free licenses, we do not allow unfree images such as the ones that you have uploaded.
  2. You have labeled many uploads with {{promotional}}. This tag is intended for publicity photos, specifically intended for redistribution in the press, which not all material on a band's web site, or included in album liner notes are. In any case, even true publicity photos are subject to fair use criterion #1, discussed above.
  3. The following images do not indicate their source and copyright holder. They may be deleted in one week's time if this information is not provided.
There are several others that list only http://www.metal-archives.com/ as a source. Unfortunately, this site does not own the copyright to those images, and does not supply the information that we need about their copyright status.
  4. The following images were all tagged as either {{NoRightsReserved}} or {{GFDL}}, however there was no information on any of their source sites to back-up this claim. They too will be deleted soon if you can not provide accurate information about their status, as well as a detail fair use rationale The rationale must include, among other things, the reasons that the image legally constitutes fair use, the reason the image is essential to the article (some of your articles contain many unfree images for identification, which are certainly not essential), and the reason it is not possible to use a free image.
  5. Could you also please confirm that you are the creator of Image:Connor_urine2.jpg and Image:TUFFY.jpg, which you tagged {{GFDL-self}} indicating that you are the photographer and copyright holder. I ask only because you have unreliably tagged dozens of other images, and because the two images list different photographers. Neither one is used in an article and the first image's source link is broken. If these are not your creations, please remove the {{GFDL-self}} template. If they are, it would be helpful if you could explicitly state this on the image description page.×Meegs 11:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd also like to ask you to thoroughly read Wikipedia:Image use policy, Wikipedia:Image copyright tags, and Wikipedia:Fair use before you upload any additional images. If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. I know that I've just given you a lot of information at once, and I apologize, but this is very serious business. Regards. ×Meegs 10:41, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for all the problems, I misunderstood the definition of the tag I had been using, and i believed that writing the source information for the image made it valid for use also. Unfortunately, I don't know the licensing for most of these images, so you should take them down if that's what needs to be done. I'll be sure to read up on things more before uploading anymore images, Thanks a lot!×Karpsmom 9:38, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for understanding. Regarding point 4 above, are you the photographer of those two images? It's quite common for people to use the {{GFDL-self}} tag by mistake, so it's not a big deal. All the best. ×Meegs 07:57, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I am the photographer and/or copyright holder of those two photos, but I don't really know how I can prove it. The Connor McClure picture I took with his brother's camera during a performance Connor was part of. The Tuffy picture I'm not the photographer, because I am a member of Tuffy, my friend took the picture with my camera and I hold whatever rights there are to the picture. Either way, it doesn't matter with those pictures because they aren't even being used in any articles! Thanks! =) ×Karpsmom 11:06, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. To avoid confusion in the future, you may want to add a phrase like "taken by User:Karpsmom" or "commissioned by User:Karpsmom" (substituting your real name if you want) to the image description pages. The thing is, those -self tags are misused — by accident and by intention — extremely often. A statement in prose, though it may seem redundant, is relatively good evidence that the claim is legit. ×Meegs 20:05, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Esperanza!

[edit]

Welcome, Karpsmom, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. You can support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact our administrator general Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Rock music Wikiproject invitation

[edit]

Hello WikiProject Metal member.
WikiProject Metal music is important in expanding encyclopedic coverage of the metal. It brings attention to the lesser-known bands, and significantly improves the quality of the famous ones. Five Featured articles and two formers is proof of that.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently resurrected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and embrace the links between metal and rock music in general.
Rock on.

Category:Norwegian musicians

[edit]

I'm trying to minimize the items in this category. Perhaps you could look over the list and move articles over to the subcategories of Norwegian musicians by genre and Norwegian musicians by instrument I just created? Preferably the Norwegian heavy metal musicians category, as you probably have more idea of what the artists do compared to me. Spelemann 19:24, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shockertoys and Dethklok merchandise

[edit]

It is my contention that despite being a toy company, Shockertoys is not a reliable source, considering thier history of making announcements that result in no product reaching the market. If what my google research hold true, they have a track record since 2003 of announcing merchandise which they later claim gets tied up in legal issues or people backing out of contracts, etc. It happened most recently with The Venture Brothers which they claim was part of the same deal as the Dethklok license. Look at thier concept for Shoulder Action Figures (SAF's) which never came out and check the reasons they gave for why. Look at thier Indie Spotlight line, which went through about a half dozen major changes in the series 1 lineup. They finally have a "concrete" lineup but it's unlikely they will ever see the light of day.

They have never had a product hit a mass retail or mass specialty retail shelf. They have been stringing along the GWAR license for 2 years now with what appears to be little to no headway being made. They were supposed to come out in the middle of last year and they pushed series one back to fall, then to winter and it appears to be indefinately in limbo. They have one product that has come to market from this and it is NOT a retail item, it was a conevention exclusive. Therefore the words "who made Shockinis and the GWAR action figures" are innaccurate to begin with since the only product they have so far is an inarticulated, unpainted resin test shot. That does not meet the classification of an action figure. It should be changed to reflect that they are "currently designing and fabricating protoypes for a potential GWAR action figure line." That's not even the main point.

My point is, that a manufacturer's announcement about a license is not valid by itself but must be corroborated. The validity of statements and announcements by even established companies such as Hasbro and Mattel about licenses they hold should be questioned unless they have licensor acknowledgement or the product hits the market. There has been no confirmation by the licensors, nor has there been corroboration by toy industry news sources on the story. My guess is that they cannot verify it either and that they consider the announcement to fail the test of attribution since without licensor confirmation it is tantamount to self-published material. NECA (National Entertainment Collectables Association) recently tried to release a John Lennon figure that they did not have the rights to despite the fact that they made prototypes, actually produced the figure and started shipping them to retailers who started selling them. A press release was issued stating that they did not in fact have permission to sell them and had been issued a cease and desist order. So despite the fact that they showed off the prototypes, talked about thier plans and even began selling them items they did not have permission from the licensor. That should highlight the fact that companies CAN and do make announcements that are erronous and as such a higher standard must be taken on how we handle them when it comes to posting in the wikipedia. I can register my own LLC and post on my company website that I have the rights to do Dethklok figures as well. Without licensor confirmation, my announcement would be just as reliable as thiers.

If it is to be included, it must and should be altered into a more appropriate and accurate format.

Fair use rationale for Image:A Carefully Planned Accident Cover.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:A Carefully Planned Accident Cover.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 05:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:A Carefully Planned Accident Cover.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC). Fair use rationale for Image:Inharmonia.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Inharmonia.jpg. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Replaceable fair use Image:Garmentist.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Garmentist.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. Metalocalypse article/speculation??

[edit]

How exactly is it "speculation" that Snakes 'n' Barrels and Zazz Blammymatazz are based on Guns 'n Roses and Van Halen, respectively? If you watch the show (I own the Season 1 DVD), the references are ridiculously obvious. I approve of your other edits to this section but unless you can justify deleting these references, I will revert your changes. 70.162.208.170 (talk)

Just correcting my own typos. Don't mind me. 70.162.208.170 (talk)

Any sort of information that can not be proven by a source other than your own beliefs or opinions is speculation. It does not matter what edits either of us, or anybody for that matter, approve of, Wikipedia has guidelines and rules and I'm simply following them. If you can find proof (a quote from the shows creators or cast members, etc.) that they are a reference to Guns 'n Roses, then it doesn't belong if it's worded that way. It's at least more acceptable by Wikipedia standards if it's stated that it's a view or opinion of people and not as a fact, because that is true, it is a view, opinion, or speculation of many people that they are based on these bands, it is NOT a fact because it has never been verified. If people can't follow guidelines like this then they don't belong on Wikipedia, they belong on a personal fan page or forum. Karpsmöm 06:44, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Meistermephisto.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Meistermephisto.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:56, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Kelly hi! 07:51, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:VintersorgBorknagarvideo.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 07:55, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Giant Squid (band)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Giant Squid (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. AfD nomination of Giant Squid (band)

[edit]

I have nominated Giant Squid (band), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Giant Squid (band). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Image permission problem with Image:Connor urine2.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Connor urine2.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:33, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Karpsmom! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 6 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Andreas Hedlund - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Cornelius Jakhelln - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Orphaned non-free media (File:Cover last.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cover last.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:00, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Solens rötter

[edit]

The article Solens rötter has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable recording

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
