Sharon L. Hartwell is a Canadian politician who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in the 2024 British Columbia general election. She represents the electoral district of Bulkley Valley-Stikine as a member of the Conservative Party of British Columbia. She is the former mayor of Telkwa, British Columbia.[1][2]

Political career
editHartwell was the mayor of Telkwa from 1995 through 2009.[3][4] She ran in the 1996 British Columbia general election as a member of the Progresssive Democratic Alliance for the riding of Bulkley Valley-Stikine.[5]
Hartwell ran once again in the 2013 British Columbia general election as the BC Liberal candidate for the Bulkley Valley-Stikine riding.[6] She lost to NDP incumbent Doug Donaldson.[4]
In November 2023, Hartwell announced her intention to run as the BC Conservative candidate for Bulkley Valley-Stikine in the 2024 British Columbia general election.[3] On election day, Hartwell received over fifty per cent of the vote, unseating NDP incumbent Nathan Cullen.[2][7]
