Etymology
edit@Huldra: Is there any info about the meaning of Meithalun's name? Someone added an unsourced explanation claiming it meant "100 colors", which seems plausible. Need a source though. --Al Ameer (talk) 20:19, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Al Ameer son: Palmer, 1881, p. 187...referring to Palmer, 1881, p. 112, ..the actual explanation is on p. 112. And, btw; this article now fulfils the DYK-test; any thoughts about a handle? Huldra (talk) 20:24, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Huldra: Thanks, added it to the article. I'm also going to see if the "100 colors" theory is the view of Meithalun municipality, because I believe the IP who added it may have been using that as a reference (without citing it). If so, I'll attribute the alternative theory to the municipality.
- As for DYK, I was planning on pairing it with Marj Sanur. There's not really much in this article currently that is terribly interesting, history-wise, so I was thinking:
- "... that Meithalun is the largest Palestinian village in the Marj Sanur valley"
- or if the 100 colors theory could be supported, then "... Meithalun, the village of "100 colors", is the largest Palestinian village in the Marj Sanur valley". --Al Ameer (talk) 21:32, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- The largest village, sounds ok. The 100 colours theory, even if it is collaborated by the municipality, is a bit more "shaky", as it would be contradicted by Palmer, Huldra (talk) 21:48, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- That's fine, I'll go with the first hook. --Al Ameer (talk) 22:31, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
