editIt's a small point, but was it the Allies or the occupying powers (France, US, Britian, Solviet Union) that were permitted to fly out of Berlin? DJ Clayworth 18:09, 10 Feb 2004 (UTC)
The occupying powers. Of course, the Allies generally were flying out of West Berlin and the Soviets out of East Berlin. TL, 8 May 2006.
It appears that the official fleet size of Air Berlin is either 54 or 58, depending on which part of the website you look at -- airberlin:Facts and Figures or airberlin.com:The Fleet. Either number seems low. Does anybody have information (with a source, please) on the latest figures?
Fair use rationale for Image:Air Berlin logo.png
editImage:Air Berlin logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 01:52, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
History
editHave amended and expanded the "History" section by adding and referencing further relevant facts relating to the company's formative period during the Allied/Cold War era. Have also added a new category "Defunct airlines of the United States" as the original company Air Berlin, Inc. has been superseded by Air Berlin GmbH & Co. Luftverkehrs AG. Technically, these are two separate companies, with the former ceasing to exist in 1990 when it was bought out by German shareholders and reconstituted as the latter under German company law. Therefore, that company is now defunct. Pimpom123 16:21, 05 December 2007 (GMT)
- Perhaps they should be different articles for the American-owned and Germany-owned eras. MilborneOne (talk) 19:51, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
The logo being used in the article is outdated. Air Berline recently changed their livery, logo, website appearance, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.242.73.200 (talk) 16:15, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
NPOV removal from article
editThe following has been removed from the article due to it being blatantly WP:NPOV.
On June 2008 airberlin's CEO, Joachim Hunold, published an editorial[1] where he attacks the use of the Catalan language, saying that it is "like going back to the Middle Ages" and "using Spanish is enough". As in Catalan speaking places of spain this kind of speech is linked to the fascist regimes of the 20th century (Nationalsocialism), this political attack made by an important German company caused a big scandal[2][3]. In 2007 airberlin had attacked using similar words the possibility that the Spanish government invested less in the Madrid airport and a little more in Barcelona's El Prat[4].

"operating as airberlin"
editAir Berlin is in no way operating as "airberlin". They did change their logo, however they still spell themselves "Air Berlin" in written text. Check the "our company" section on their website or German wikipedia. There are also no results for site:airberlin.com airberlin -"airberlin.com" on Google. I'm gonna revert those changes as they are misleading. --Studmult (talk) 10:45, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
I changed "operating" to "stylized". NagamasaAzai (talk) 16:37, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Fleet Thumbnails
editHey, well I did add thumbnails into the fleet chart, as per the Air Canada chart. It seems to be the newer form of fleet tables that seems to be used for various other notable airlines, such as Delta and JAL.
However, it has since been removed. Should I re-add it back in?

Speedy deletions at commons tend to take longer than they do on Wikipedia, so there is no rush to respond. If you feel the deletion can be contested then please do so (commons:COM:SPEEDY has further information). Otherwise consider finding a replacement image before deletion occurs.

Reviewer: TheSpecialUser (talk · contribs) 14:12, 29 July 2012 (UTC) A quick fail. Giving issues in next edit. TheSpecialUser TSU 14:12, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
It was a rushed nomination by an IP address. This article is nowhere near to get to GA status. Here are just few issues that I see: Neutrality- The article is no written in a neutral way. There are peacock terms, and also promotional lines which need to be re-written. Prose is pretty bad and need throughout copyediting. Refs- many facts are not sourced and many are un-reliable sources. This is just an 10 second review. If wen't deep under, many issues exist. Thus I'm failing it. If someone wants a detailed reason for quick-fail, feel free to ping me on my talk. TheSpecialUser TSU 14:31, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Biased Criticism
editThe sections detailing criticism are biased and poorly sourced. Two are just message board postings, effectively anonymous, and the rest of the criticism consists of poor ratings on a couple of websites (with which, I wish to note, that I'd never heard of before). Furthermore a rating of 1.8 on ReviewCentre.com sounds bad, until you realise that, in fact, the very best-rated airlines only receive 2.5-2.7. On Airlikes there are only 10 reviews, of which two are by the same user. In the absence of any evidence that these problems occur to any significant proportion of the airlines customers, they should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.247.101.115 (talk) 15:59, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
Reads like a PR announcement
editI came here for information about the airline, not advertising. In addition, this is very poorly translated from the original German. I would do it myself but I don't really care. 87.111.43.138 (talk) 13:06, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input. You are right, the overall quality of this article is indeed inferior. Especially concerning the history section: From 2010 onwards, it's more or less a random collection of incoherent news bits. The task "improve AB article" is now on my to-do list; I hope that I'll find the time and get this done (or rather, started) during the next few weeks.--FoxyOrange (talk) 15:32, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- I've just flagged the article accordingly. Also, please note that there is an obvious promotional account: Airberlingroup (talk · contribs). It has been blocked by now, but (as far as I can see) many of its edits (which were added in March 2013) are still there.--FoxyOrange (talk) 12:52, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- I've identified another two problematic user accounts (concerning the NPOV policy); both which were used exclusively to edit the article about Air Berlin: Onred ab (talk · contribs) and 217.7.56.20 (talk · contribs).--FoxyOrange (talk) 13:22, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

editAir berlin stoped operations on 28.10.2017. and the airline ceased operations.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Moj Vikipedija (talk • contribs)
- I disagree, per the reasons stated in my previous edit summaries. And if you really want to put something in the infobox, put the year (2017) and not some random date which is incorrect (Why 28th of October? The airline filed for bankruptcy in August and the last flight took place (and ended) on the 27th of October, and "formal" bankruptcy proceedings begin on November 1st. Which one do we put?) 135.23.202.24 (talk) 14:38, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

Lead
editI'd like to know why having the lead as one paragraph only would be better? It's unappealing and it does not group the different information presented within efficiently (in fact, it even reduces readability. in my honest opinion). 135.23.202.24 (talk) 20:27, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
- Please dont force your reverts on the page before others get the chance to discuss here. IMHO it reads better as 1 paragraphSimply-the-truth (talk) 00:15, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- WP:HOUND. The disputed tag was placed without a reason or an edit summary, so I will remove it without further discussion. Concerning the lead, it does read better when there is more than one paragraph! One paragraph should be used only if all information is somehow contextually very closely related - in this case, the three sentences have different subjects and different information: the first is about what this article is about (the airline) - the second gives more precise information about that, while the last is about the chronology. I will reinstate a more precise version, in two paragraphs, as follows:
- Air Berlin PLC & Co. Luftverkehrs KG (FWB: AB1), branded as airberlin or airberlin.com was Germany's second-largest airline and Europe's tenth-largest airline in terms of passengers carried.[1] It was a member of the Oneworld alliance, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and headquartered in Berlin[2] with hubs at Berlin Tegel Airport and Düsseldorf Airport.
The airline was founded in 1978 by a group of Americans. Following German reunification, Air Berlin was sold and restructured in Germany. After years of losses, Air Berlin filed for insolvency on 15 August 2017[3] and ceased operations on 27 October 2017.

- Also, take notice that the lead had three paragraphs long before I started editing this article (example back in August) : the actual rule-breaker is 92.76.6.155, who has been banned for edit warring. 135.23.202.24 (talk) 03:36, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

- good action SIMPLY THE TRUTH ! I believe just that is necessary for a non-existent company anymore, while everything is said in Info-table besides and no need to repeat in short paragraphs. Edit-Wars of Wikipedia among all is the biggest problem we lose great efforts and good people works. It is why for me is a general reference, but I do not trust at all. because members and non-members IP dispute all several points of view. Wikipedia should find a way this encyclopedia be A. a consensus B. less destructive C, a new better system, because how it is, is not good at all. So, my opinion:This article's factual accuracy is disputed.
So, for a personal preference this is enough and yes, Air Berlin among all articles is another
- Air Berlin PLC & Co. I'll assume good faith, despite the WP:SPA tag I just put. Of course the introduction repeats information which is already in the article! An example: Barack Obama - the infobox has much the same information as the first two paragraphs in the lead - that's not a reason for removing that information (or not including more information in the lead, as is the case in the article I linked just above). As such, I do not see any valid reason for keeping the lead as one messy, incomplete paragraph. And please, stop stalking me because it's very unpleasant and demonstrates that you're WP:NOTHERE to help. I suggest you read WP:TRUCE. 135.23.202.24 (talk) 22:20, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

Edit war
edit@SurferSquall: Could you please tell me exactly what is your problem with my edit? Why do you think it is necessary to revert? You are telling different reasons in the edit summary which are confusing. There are 3 spelling from of "wet lease" in the article, which I edit to the form as it's own article is, plus inserted links. Where do you think a grammar problem? Thanks. 80.99.68.131 (talk) 06:48, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
- I completely misread your edit. What you changed is fine SurferSquall (talk) 17:29, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
Nuremberg
editI recall that Nuremberg was a hub for Air Berlin/Niki as well. Definitely in 2007, but it was for a longer period. Ds77 (talk) 18:51, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
