Current work

Newcomer Homepage Community Updates module

We will add a new module to the Newcomer Homepage that will allow communities to highlight specific events, projects, campaigns, and initiatives. We have released a simple version on beta wikis and we will soon start an A/B test on our pilot wikis. This module will only display on the Newcomer Homepage if communities decide to utilize it, so learn how to configure the Community Updates module, or share your thoughts on the project's talk page.

One design concept aimed to increase constructive activation

Constructive activation experimentation

After showcasing early design ideas at Wikimania, we conducted user testing of design prototypes. We now aim to engage communities in further discussions and plan to run a targeted experiment, presenting a structured task within the reading view to logged-in new account holders with zero edits.

Community Configuration

This Community Configuration extension was developed to help communities customize wiki features to meet their unique needs. The Growth team is now helping other Wikimedia Foundation teams make their products configurable:

• The Moderation Tools team now provides Community Configuration for Automoderator. (T365046)
• Certain Babel extension settings will be configurable soon. (T328171)

Future work

As part of the Growth team annual plan, we will continue to investigate ways to increase constructive activation on mobile, while also working with Data Products to move forward A/B testing functionality via the Metrics Platform.

Community events

• Growth team members presented Community Configuration: Shaping On-Wiki Functionality Together at Wikimania (slides). The session recording is available to watch on YouTube. This session provided an update on the Community Configuration project and introduced details about the upcoming features that communities will soon be able to configure. Representatives from the Moderator Tools, Editing, Web, and Campaigns teams shared their plans for utilizing Community Configuration in the future. Following these presentations, the WMF Growth team's Benoît Evellin and Martin Urbanec answered audience questions.
• Habib Mhenni gave a presentation of how mentorship works at WikiIndaba 2024. The recording is available.

Drrashmisarkar, since you have a conflict of interest, just write the edits you want to add on the talk page of the article, and make sure to type {{COI edit request}} above the edits you want made. Drrashmisarkar, if it is your Wikipedia page, then you have a conflict of interest, because you are the subject of the article. If it is not your Wikipedia page, then you can edit it by pressing the edit button on the page and then making the changes you want. Zoozaz1 (talk) 14:19, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

Technarest, If you're not supposed to be using outside sources, then yes, it is cheating. If you're allowed to use those sources, then it isn't, but keep in mind that WP:Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Wikipedia should really only be used to get a general grasp of a topic, or to find other sources that Wikipedia cites that are more reliable. Jimrot45556, unless there is a lot of media coverage of this checklist (see WP:NOTABLE), your article won't be approved, so look for those reliable sources and then cite those as references. Zoozaz1 (talk) 00:55, 12 November 2024 (UTC)

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

(I hope you don't mind my jumping in, Zoozaz1 -- I was interested in this editor's activities after reading this ANI thread, and wanted to answer an outstanding question.)

Edifyhub, you have been getting warnings about "disruptive editing" because some of your edits add errors that other editors have to un-do. For example, this change adds a mistake because that paragraph explains that Anonymus really is the name of the author. And this one adds a mistake because "throughput" is a technical term which is accurate in this context. When I look at your edit history, it looks like at least some of your edits are OK and not disruptive. This one is helpful because it fixes a formatting problem, for example. Your two most recent edits (this and this) also don't add any mistakes.

Please continue to be careful that your copy-edits do not add new mistakes. For example, avoid technical topics if you are unfamiliar with them, and check the context of the article to make sure something odd doesn't have another explanation. I would also encourage you to spend some time on research and adding sources, rather than just copy-edits: the English Wikipedia has relatively little need for copyediting, but there are a lot of topics that need more information added to them. There is a list of suggestions and links here with advice for non-copyediting tasks. If you have more questions you can also ask at WP:TEA or on my talk page.
