Carly Foulkes (born August 4, 1988), also known colloquially as The T-Mobile Girl, The T-Mobile 4G Girl, or The T-Mobile myTouch Girl, is a Canadian model and actress best known for appearing in a series of 2010 and 2011 T-Mobile myTouch 4G television commercials, in which she often wears pink and white summer dresses. Foulkes has been described as a "picture-perfect brunette."[4] A Los Angeles Times writer describes her look as Anne Hathaway meets Kim Basinger and notes that, as of early 2011, she was still often confused with fellow Canadian Jessica Paré.[2] She has been cast as "Retro Girl" in the upcoming FX TV series Powers and been the target of a Virgin Mobile ad campaign against T-Mobile.

Career
Modeling
She began modeling in the Toronto area at age 13. Then, after high school, she moved to New York to model for agents. Subsequently, she found modelling work in Singapore and Europe. After returning to New York to model, she began to pursue acting.[5] She appeared on the April 2009 cover of Mexican Elle magazine and in advertisements for Rugby Ralph Lauren,[2] Abercrombie & Fitch, Macy's, and Tommy Hilfiger.[6] She is represented by Modelwerk and Sutherland Models.[3]
T-Mobile television ads
In fall 2010, she became the T-Mobile 4G spokesperson in an advertising campaign that was at first noted for similarities to the 2006–2010 Justin Long/John Hodgman "Get a Mac" ads. Foulkes derides the iPhone 4 and its exclusive provider at the time, AT&T, the same way the Apple Inc. had derided Windows-based personal computers.[7][8] Her T-Mobile USA ads ran on major United States networks and multiple websites.[9] Since becoming the T-Mobile 4G girl she is known for the pink summer dresses that she wears in most of the ads, and she has been styled by Debra LeClair, a stylist at T-Mobile who makes the trademark pink dresses from scratch.[5] In August 2011, Sprint Nextel's Virgin Mobile prepaid service referenced T-Mobile and Foulkes with caricature ads featuring a brunette in a pink dress.[10][11] Two months earlier, Cricket Wireless had used negative attack marketing against T-Mobile without referring to Foulkes.[12][13]
She has also been a popular sex symbol since the ads started.[5] After months of email support, Foulkes was included in the SI.com feature "Hot Clicks" on May 18, 2011.[14]
Movie actress
In June 2011, Foulkes was cast as Retro Girl in the FX Network's television adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis' Powers comics series.[15] Bendis describes Folkes' role as that of the "Princess Di of the Powers world".[16] The first arc of the series, revolves around detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim understanding the circumstances of the death of Retro Girl, whose first name is Janis, although her last name is not revealed.[17] Her case is the first one that the homicide duo attempt to investigate.[18] Retro Girl will be prominent throughout the episodes since her face will appear onscreen in billboards and advertising.[19]
Personal
Foulkes' parents are British. Although she was raised in Toronto and attended Loretto Abbey,[20] she spent summers in England while growing up. As of February 2011[update], she had been in a two and a half year relationship with a fellow actor named Tyler.[5] She claims to be a video games junkie who uses PlayStation 3 for that purpose as well as to view Netflix movie rentals. She also describes herself as adept at skateboarding. Despite the association with pink dresses due to the T-Mobile ad campaign, she claims not to wear pink in her personal wardrobe, which as of 2011[update], came in part from Urban Outfitters and AllSaints.[5]
