Daspur (Template:Lang-bn) is a town and a Police station in Paschim Medinipur in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Geography

Daspur is located at 22°36′N 87°43′E / 22.6°N 87.71°E / 22.6; 87.71.[1] It has an average elevation of 6 metres (22 feet).

Politics

Current MLA from Daspur assembly constituency is Sunil Adhikari of CPI(M), who won the seat in State elections of 2006. Ajit Bhunia of AITC was MLA from this seat in 2001. Chittaranjan Mukhopadhyaya of CPI(M) had won it in 1996. Prabhas Chandra Phadikar of CPI(M) was MLA from this seat in 1991, 1987, 1982, and in 1977.[2]

Daspur assembly constituency is part of Panskura (Lok Sabha constituency).[3]
