International Preparatory Programmes

We accept applicants all year round
  • Preparatory Programme (the Russian Language + other subjects)

    This programme is targeted at foreign citizens who do not speak Russian and would like to enroll in undergraduate (Bachelor's), graduate (Master's) and postgraduate (PhD) programmes at SSU or any other Russian university.

    This programme includes the study of the Russian language (starter/beginner level) and 3 general education subjects, related to the students' future major.

  • Russian Language Course (from Beginner to B1)

    This language course is aimed at non-native Russian speakers who would like to enroll in Russian-taught academic programmes.

    • Total hours- 726 hours
    • Mode of study: full-time
    • Fee 87 120 rubles
    • Check-in dates (= school starts):
    • December 5 - January 14 up to June 30
  • Russian Language Course (from Beginner to A2)

    This language course is designed to help students achieve A2 level in Russian.

    • Total hours -380 hours
    • Mode of study: full-time
    • Fee 49 400 rubles

    • April, 1 - August, 31

Admission

Traditionally, Saratov State University enrollment campaign begins on June, 20th and ends at the end of August. If you are a foreign citizen, a person without citizenship, or a compatriot living abroad, provide the following documents when applying:

    А copy of your identity document, or an identity document of a foreign citizen in the Russian Federation

    Notarized Russian translation of your identity document

    Your educational documents (secondary school sertificate)

    Notarized Russian translation of your educational documents (sertificate with transcript)

    Сopies of documents or other evidence supporting affiliation of a compatriot living abroad

    to the groups provided by the Article 17 of the Federal Law dated May 24, 1999 No. 99-FL “On the National Policy of the Russian Federation towards Compatriots Living Abroad”

The applicant’s surname, name and patronymic (if any), indicated in the translations of the submitted documents, shall comply with the surname, name and patronymic indicated in the identity document of a foreign citizen in the Russian Federation. Residence

  • Invitation letter/ Pre-arrival information for visa entry

    Processing of an invitation letter for entry into the Russian Federation

    General information:

    • For obtaining a student visa, the applicant's passport should be valid for not less then 18 months after the visa is issued.
    • Scanned copy of the applicant's passport should be clear and easy-to-read.
    • When a foreign citizen is going to apply for a Russian visa in a country whitch is different from the country of citizenship, a copy of the document confirming the right of the foreign citizen for permanent stay in a third country and a notarized translation of this document should be attached to the documents submitted for processing an invitation letter. The document is meant to be valid for 6 months after the future Russian visa expiration.
    • An invitation for entry into the Russian Federation for foreign citizens is issued in electronic form and sent to the e-mail whitch the applicants put in the application form when submitting documents.

    For obtaining an invitation to study in Russia, you should:

    1. Send a scan of your passport (the first page with a photo) to 210699.sgu@gmail.com;

    2. Send a scan of the latest Russian visa (if you previously visited Russian Federation);

    3. For an invitation letter on humanitarian visas (scientific and technical cooperation), as well as for foreign citizens arriving to study at SSU Preparatory Department, a state fee of 960 rubles is paid. The state fee is paid to the banking details.

    Invitation processing time:

    Invitation processing time is 40-45 working days

    Invitation is valid for 90 days from the date of its issue.

    After receiving an invitation, a foreign citizen has to contact the Consular Division of the Russian Federation in the country of his/her living or permanent stay in order to receive a visa to enter the Russian Federation.

  • Registration upon arrival (necessary for all categories of foreign citizens)

    Migration registration

    International students are responsible for contacting the Saratov State University Division of International Cooperation (72/74 Zheleznodorozhnaya str., Saratov, room 111) within 2 working days upon their arrival in the country in order to get a migration registration and dormitory check-in.

    For obtaining your migration registration you should provide the following documents:

    1. your passport and copies of filled out pages of the passport;
    2. your migration card;
    3. your results of measles testing (the result is done in 3-5 days) (Gemotest (Гемотест) – Moskovskaya street, 149A building);
    4. your results of chest X-ray, dermatologist, blood RW-test (Hospital №2, room №34 – Moskovskaya street, 137/149 building);
    5. your medical check-up certificate issued by the Medical centre of the university (when you have all medial results with you) – Bolshaya Kazachya street, 120 building, university building № 7).

    The specialist from Saratov State University Division of International Cooperation (72/74 Zheleznodorozhnaya str., Saratov, room 111) processes the registration of international students within 7 calendar days. After 7 days, a foreign student is obliged to contact the Division and take his/her copy of the registration slip.

    A foreign student should undergo the following procedures which verify legal status for foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federationare:

    • medical examination (address: Saratovskaya street 10А/Саратовская улица, д.10А);
    • fingerprinting and biometric photography (in police departments at the place of registration).
  • Visa extension

    Procedure for Visa Extension

    If you need to renew your visa and migration registration, you should apply to Saratov State University Division of International Cooperation. You should collect the required documents and provide them to the Division 45 days prior to your current visa expiration date.

    You should provide the following documents:

    • your passport (Important: the passport expiration date is to exceed validity period of a multiple-entry visa by 6 months);
    • copies of all filled out pages of your passport (for those who live in the dormitory);
    • two copies of the passport two-page opening with a photo and with a valid visa
    • two copies of your migration card issued at the point of entry into Russia;
    • two copies of registration slip
    • 1 photo (size 3x4 cm);
    • a copy of your medical insurance policy;
    • a copy of your fingerprinting and biometric photography sertificate;
    • a recept confirming the paiment of the visa fee (1,920 rubles);
    • a copy of the certificate from the Ministry of Internal Affairs;
    • a copy of the student contract at SSU - for non-scholarship students /a copy of the certificate from the place of study (Dean's office or Directorate) – for scholarship students;
    • a letter of authorization by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation;
