How to choose paint colors based on the room's orientation and directional light has been one of my top FAQ lately, so I wanted to make a quick reel to address it, as it was an absolute game changer for me to learn. Figuring this out allowed me to understand how to transform the rooms in my home to have the vibes I want, and I'm happy to share the info! In a nutshell:☀️ South facing rooms usually get a ton of natural sunlight, and have a consistent level of light all day. The world is your oyster in these rooms, and both warm and cool tones usually work. Keep in mind that most colors will pull lighter, so don't be afraid of pigment here. For example, Bungalow Beige looks creamy and glowy in my dining room, but has a deeper, richer brownish hue in my kitchen. ⛅️ North facing rooms are fairly consistent but they get a lower/cooler light throughout the day. My living room is north facing and I recently repainted it from a cool-toned white to warm and creamy Greek Villa. It feels like an entirely different house now. 😍🌅 East facing rooms will get the pop of light with sunrise but gradually darken throughout the day. My hallway gets east light only, and GV works well in there too. For east and west rooms, it's important to consider when you use the space most. I'm comfy with the dark green because I'm usually getting ready in there in the morning and looking to cozy up at night. 🌄 West facing rooms can feel dark in the morning (I can't film in my kitchen until 4 pm) but will get that beautiful golden hour pop in the afternoon/evening. Creamy neutrals really work well here; don't be afraid of a slight yellow undertone to bring some extra glow. "But what do I do if my room has multiple windows facing in different directions?"It's easy to determine where the majority of the light is coming from. My dining room has 2 south facing windows and one west window. Most of the light comes from the south, so I call it a south facing room. There's nothing stark or sterile about it. It is calming, vibey, and just feels like home. If you're looking for a cozy paint color for your whole home or a single room, definitely grab a sample of this one to see how it plays with your lighting. My house doesn't get as much natural light as I'd like, and this was the trick for making it feel like the sun's always shining over here. PS - in the living room, it's color drenched across the ceiling.
