(I’m using the 201cm Pax as the 236cm won’t fit! )You can get this from your local time yard and they will cut it to size. You can design the wardrobe on the Ikea app and they provide an image for reference. I’m using base frame as I want to add skirting board to match the rest of the room. 2) Put the 3x2s on the floor to make the base. You’ll also need some MDF to fill the space at the side and top. To give that fitted look. 3) Build your pax frames and then add them onto the base created from the 3x2s 4) add the MDF to the side and top. 5) are all the KOMPLEMENT elements. 6) Caulk, prime and paint all the MDF. 7) add your handles (admittedly I’ve not even chosen any yet!) 8) you will have beautiful bespoke fitted wardrobe for a fraction of the price. Price breakdown £427.00 for the Ikea wardrobe and all the komplement elements. £21 for the 3x2’s and £16 for the MDF. I just need to buy the handles. I will be using primer and paint I already have. We kept the skirting to attach to the front of the wardrobes. ��3. Build a timber frame to raise the wardrobes off the floor and give something to reattach the skirting to. 4. ��Attach studwork to the sides and top and secure to the wardrobes. Then cover the studwork with MDF to create a boxed in look. ��5. Attach coving to the top and attach skirting to the front. ��6. Fill and sand any holes/joins and caulk any edges/ joins for a seamless finish. ��7. Attach hardware. We chose beehive knobs from @yesterhome 8. ��Paint if desired. Here’s how to do it: 🔹 Measure & Plan– Your base should be the same width as your wardrobes but slightly shallower for a recessed toe-kick. 🔹 Cut & Assemble– Build a rectangular frame using 2x4s. Secure the outer frame first. 🔹 Add Vertical Supports– Place supports so each wardrobe sits in the middle of them. (For a 50cm unit, the support should be centred at 50cm.) 🔹 Check for Level– Use a spirit level and shims if needed to keep everything straight. 🔹 Install PAX Units– Place wardrobes on the base, secure them together, and fix them to the wall. Hanging rails in a 100cm wide carcass will give you 70cm of hanging rail (2 X 35cm rails) instead of the 100cm rail in a full depth carcass, so it’s still pretty good storage. We added the bespoke shelves by the wall as this meant we could still have bedside cabinets without obstructing doors. It also utilised the last of that space up (40cm) and adds additional storage.
