How to create a 6-strand braid:
1. Start with a multiple of 6 cords hanging down. In this case I have 6 cords folded in half with 2 strands hanging down from each; 12 hanging strands in total.

I use 9mm cord most often for baskets. 5mm cord for baskets, trivets, key chains and handbags. 3mm cord for coasters and placemats, and 2mm cord for coasters and various small accessories.

Of course, sometimes I use other cords and yarns, but braided cords are definitely my favorite! 😁
