All of our butcher blocks are made from edge grain Black Walnut (And other hardwoods!) for long lasting beauty, Edge grain is denser than face grain giving you a more robust surface ideal for cutting. We hand pick each of our boards using only full length boards, so there are absolutely no finger joints or mismatched butt joints, just long beautiful uninterrupted Walnut grain. Ex: If you order a 96" top, it's made from 96" boards, not pieced together from smaller pieces. Choose from 3 finish options: 100% Pure Tung Oil: This finish is all natural and safe for food contact and cutting. If you want to cut on your new top, this is the finish to go with. It's been used for centuries all over the world. Our Tung oil is organic and pure, no dilutants or harsh chemicals. Hardwax Oil: This finish is a modified oil finish that forms a molecular bond with the wood fibers for a durable and waterproof finish. 100% VOC free meaning no harsh chemicals or odors. Hardwax is simple to maintain; if noticeable scratches appear on your Hardwax-finished surface, all you need to do is clean the damaged area well, scuff with light sandpaper and then reapply a new coat where needed. This finish has the look and feel of a traditional oil finish while slightly lighter in color than our Tung Oil finish. Conversion Varnish: This finish is a spray on clear coat.. This is our most protective finish. Immune to nearly all chemicals once dry. Any and all shapes can be accommodated.
