This is an extraordinary Folk Art painted post bed from the American southwest, circa 1830-1840. A rare size unique Folk Art form identified as from early Germanic settlements of Texas, 19th century. Freehand decorated headboard and canopy suspended on 4 exceptionally tall pencil posts. This piece came to Las Vegas in early 1999 by way of an article in architectural digest featuring Dayton Ohio antique dealer, Rus Kindrick. In the article he showcased this bed as from the ex-collection of Estee Lauder. Our client purchased directly from Mr. Kindrick shortly after that issue hit the stands. Frame professionally modified for the use of hidden steel bolts to secure side rails to the head and foot board. This makes it a solid useable bed (Mattress size fit 76" x 50"). The original canopy art boards are now solidly back supported for preservation. At one point the posts were masterfully lengthened for modern day use. The joinery is barely noticeable except under close inspection. This bed is a masterpiece. We tried to capture its authentic charm in photos.
