Sunshine and Rainbows | Can you even believe how pretty these Goodwill glass plates turned solar lights came out?? #restorationofheartandhome #southernhomedecor #solarlights... | By Southern Crossroads Creations LLC | Hey, guys. This is Vicky with Southern Crossroads Creation. I grabbed one of these canning lids. We're going to use the ring of that and then we'll just save the other part late for later and this is a solar light from Dollar Tree. Now, when I got these from Dollar Tree, I did not know that the plastic. I should have checked that. So, if you do grab these from Dollar Tree, you will have to take them apart in order to get that plastic part off. Now, they do sell a different style at Walmart and I'll show you that one here in just a minute but this one is pretty easy. You do have to take the screws out and then just snip the little plastic pieces because you don't need that on there for the craft that we're making. So there's where I show you. It does not come off. So make sure you check those. But this one here it is a little bit more money at Walmart. But it does have the lid that just completely comes right off and you don't have to break the plastic off. So that's just personal preference. Okay and then the next thing that you're going to need is some type of dish. Now, I got these at Goodwill for four ninety-nine. There was ten of them. I was so super excited but make sure that it has some type of rim on the bottom. They're not hard to find. Just scan the crystal section, glass section at Goodwill and you can even do anything that's clear really. You're going to need E 6000 and then a dial rod. Now, those dial rods, you can get those at Lowe's any of your you know home stores you can grab those. And then all I did is I took some antique wax. Now after thought that I had probably would have been better to use some type of oil based stain because it will be outside. But honestly I'm not going to leave these. I live in Tennessee so these will not stay out all year just because of the glass and the weather and I don't want them to freeze and then break. Okay so you're going to a little drill there's two options away to do this. If you don't have a drill let me show you this one first. So this one you just take a little drill and then take a screw and then you're going to screw it into you're going to hear my bird singing because I am outside. Um but you're going to take and screw that into the dial rod. So you're going to have to drill also in this into the dial rod so that the screw will go in. Now if you don't have this option you can E 6000 and hot the rod onto the rim. It's just not going to be as stable as you you know have with the screw. But if you put them in a inside like of a plant a potted plant instead of trying to put them into the yard or something like that. Um I feel like it would probably work. You're just going to have to kind of test that out. Um but honestly it would be better to have a screw to screw that in there. Okay so that's what it looks like right there. And then once you get super tight. I did put some hot glue into where the rim and the dial rod come together just to give it a little bit more stability and then this is where the magic happens. So you're going to take some E six thousand. You can get this at Walmart. It is in the craft section where the paints and all of that is. That's where you're going to find this E 6 thousand. Then you're going to go around the rim of that dish. This one kind of gave me a marker but if you don't have a rim on the bottom of your dish, just place your lid on there and just kind of mark it with some you know, permanent marker and that way you know where to kind of go around. You can just kind of draw a circle. Alright, then once I got that on there, put some hot glue on there as well. That just holds it in place until that E 6000 has time to dry. Once you get that on there. I did not wait. I just kind of you know put it on there. If you want to wait you can. I just went ahead and put some more E 6000 around the rim. And then once you get that you're going to put some more hot glue on there. And then this is where you're going to place your solar light right on top of your rim. Again the reason you're going to do the two types of glue is because the hot glue will the E 6000 takes overnight to dry. So don't immediately put these in the yard. I waited I did this in the morning. I waited till almost evening till dust to actually put it out. Um but I didn't you know make sure that it's not raining and all the things. But look how pretty y'all. The solar light will catch the light and then it will illuminate through your glass dish and I just thought they were so pretty. I'm going to show you what these look like with the lights out in my craft room. Look how pretty these are. So pretty. The glass just illuminates. It just it to me it just looks like a sunflower. It's just so so super cute. So make sure you check out the Goodwill section. The glass section of your Goodwill and you can make these like I said if they even if they don't have a rim on it you can make those but check this out outside I did not get one with it started pouring down rain so I did not get one in the night time but y'all look how cute these are I hope you guys enjoy this make sure you follow along pass this down the road from me which means share like and comment you can follow along on Southern Crossroads Creations. com or on YouTube make sure you follow along over there thanks guys
