Neolithic Stone Female "Idol," 2500 BC - 1900 BC, Anatolian, Syrian | The simple and uniform shapes make this difficult to classify: figures with a comparable structure can be found in the Near East from Neolithic times at least up until the Iron Age. This "idol" resembles a relief or a stele, more than a true statue in the round, and displays summary features for the anatomical rendering of the face and arms, whereas the lower part of the body shows no details whatsoever.
