How credits work
Agents spend credits while they work, wherever the platform runs. Every movement is written to a ledger you can read, free credits arrive daily, and runs on your own model keys cost nothing at all.
Cost attaches to the run that caused it, not to a monthly average. You see spend per session while the agent is still working, and the same meter applies on every hosting.
Every credit granted or spent is a line item in the ledger on the Billing page, filterable by entry kind; Usage & Credits traces the same spend back to the day, model, agent and Work it went to.
Every account is topped up to 50 credits a day, cloud or self-hosted — the daily grant fills the balance back to 50 rather than stacking on top of it. Light use never reaches a bill.
Paid plans add a monthly credit allowance on top of the daily free ones — granted at checkout and again each allowance month, expiring at that month's end — include 10 employees or agents, and raise how many agents may run at once.
Credit packs are bought from the Billing page on any plan and any hosting, wherever payments are enabled, and never expire while your account is active. A run always spends the soonest-expiring credits first, so a pack is never burned while a monthly allowance sits unused.
Bring your own keys — no credits
Point the platform at your own model keys and those runs cost no credits — on any plan, including Free, and on either hosting. This is the one way to run at zero credit cost. It has to be a key you saved yourself, on your account or on the Work: a key inherited from the operator counts as platform-supplied and bills as usual. Either way the spend is still metered and shown, so your reports stay complete.
Self-hosting — free to run, credits still apply
Self-hosting the open-source platform, or running the desktop app on your own machine, costs no license fee: Community Edition is free under AGPLv3 and has no seat count. Credits are a separate axis — a self-hosted run that uses Ever-hosted AI spends them exactly as a cloud run does. Use your own model keys and it spends none. The one difference is the gate, not the meter: self-hosted plans carry no credit limit, so a run there is never parked for an empty balance the way a cloud run is.
Before you buy
Credits are the unit of consumption the platform meters against: agent runs, pipelines and AI calls debit them; the daily allowance, the monthly plan allowance and purchases add them. Here is the whole model, in the same terms the product uses.
