Nearing two years since releasing their last album, Contempt for a Failed Dimension, in Jan of 2023, FAITHXTRACTOR are back once again with an even stronger and more expansive effort entitled Loathing & the Noose. Underground Metal luminary, Ash Thomas, whose discography reads like an extreme metal encyclopedia (Shed the Skin, Acheron, Estuary and Thorns of the Carrion, to name a few), never seems to run short on inspiration or ideas.
From bludgeoning speed to the suffocating weight of expansive doom passages, this album showcases a band that will never stop developing its craft and have proven so on each and every release. Wielding 8 tunes of death & misery, Loathing and the Noose stabs & chokes the listener through its duration. When questioned about the album, mastermind Ash Thomas describes the album as "malice riddled grief". He continues, "From the music to the lyrics it’s a maelstrom of rage & melancholy exploring the many facets of this waking depression called life."

Relentless, grinding, off-kilter, dissonant doom-death assault that is by turns fascinating and repulsive, and in the end deeply emotionally affecting. Dave Aftandilian

Man, this is some flat out foul death doom metal. Crushingly heavy and intimidating. The whole album oozes a thick and murky atmosphere that will leave you feeling hypoxic and catatonic. Do what you can to brace yourself against this torrent of sludge and slime. 8/10 RJ

Here's to some more cosmic metal, the Karlsruhe based outfit offers crude yet extremely well produced sound in this earlier effort.
Featuring mid-tempo cadences, occasional blast beating, high pitched shrieking essentially, the riffing has this mildly meaty, sensational over-atmospheric tilt that's always well received on my part.
The perspective of getting sucked into a wormhole had never felt better I kid you not.
Emperor and Inherits the Void in mind, you just can't skip this one. doive
