Nothing, really. Beautiful looking and beautiful driving car. Of course all cars have technical issues and in 2022 E39 is getting age related problems too (most are rust buckets in my country). But that is same for all old cars.

I haven't had experience with Audi turbo gassers but VW/Audi diesel engines of that era (minus the early V6es which had problems with camshaft oiling) were absolute masterpieces. Faultless (if you treated them with basic care, changed oil regularly, no garbage fuel etc). Also have to thank Bosch for making truly durable and reliable mechanical (with electronic control) diesel injection pump.

Not gonna happen. They will use V6. And go to electric 😕
R5 engines will remain rare. Which is a big shame of course. You can't get that sound with anything else, other than freaking V10.
