Sudbury’s goth pop dueling darkwavers FAUXCILS spill, cover and plaster their new remix tape ‘’PAINT MIXER’’. On Sudbury’s Slip Resting Under Patience, these 5 tracks feature the wires, waves and phases of Mitch Houle, the conduit of Sudbury signal generator Mick Futures(Telephone Explosion).

“PAINT MIXER’’, the second release collaboration between Fauxcils and Mick Futures, displays the circuit board of Mick’s mind. First fusing their efforts earlier this year, their projects collided at the top of 2025 when the band approached Houle to visit the lost highways of their current designs. Assuming the role of a producer, Mitch entered the pathways of their works in process, guiding the dark duo and plugging them into the patch bay of his studio-song-writing practice.

Mick revisits the albums’ songs, transmitting them through the signature of his solo project, Mick Futures. PAINT MIXER is a pulse wave, no longer hinting, but sounding out the long awaited return of Mick’s project.

Mitch Houle is a multi-instrumental musician, producer and founder of Sudbury recording studio Piss Factory. A permanent fixture in his local community and Canadian and international weirdo punk legend, Houle is the lightning in the bottle for projects like Strange Attractor, Tommy and the Commies, Statues and of course Mick Futures. Pivotal whether instruments in hand or behind a mixing desk, his humble demeanor does nothing to hide the wicked of his taste and talent.

“Mitch brought a curatorial eye to the project,” Topp says. “In a way this tape release is a next document in our study of working together. He’s offering us a perspective: to reflect on how direction can modulate. It couldn't come at a better time, and has been really resonant as we delve into the studio for the writing of our second album.’’

Herd states, “The remixes Mick has given us feel like such a gift. A totally unexpected reimagining of 5 songs we’ve looked at inside and out for so long... The tracks have new life pumped into them. It was refreshing and inspiring to hear these songs soaked in what sounds like a nostalgic 90s dance music bath. I’ve always looked up to Mick as a mentor since seeing Strange Attractor for the first time when I was about 15 years old.. Since then, we’ve lived some pretty wild moments together. Some powerful, some heavy. Which to me makes this collaboration so meaningful”
