For Local Action’s last release of 2025 we present a new double-single by FAUZIA, her first solo release in four years.
A staple of the UK underground, FAUZIA has been subverting expectations for the best part of a decade now. Originally emerging as a DJ with a long-running NTS radio show, she started to release her own music for the first time in 2020 – first with her breakthrough production mix for Discwoman, then contributions to HAUS of ALTR’s various artists series and her pivot to downtempo pop on the pandemic-era classics ‘flashes of time’ and ‘are you hoping for a miracle?’.
The years since have seen FAUZIA step out as a live performer, putting together ambitious live shows at the Southbank Centre and Kings Place that showcased her skills as a composer, fleshing out her music with live harp, strings and more. She’s continued to work as a writer and producer, contributing to projects by Duval Timothy, Tirzah, Elias Rønnenfelt, Special Request and Kelela. But she also keeps one foot in the club: last September she supported Patti Smith at St. Paul’s Cathedral then DJed with dBridge at late night Glasgow staple The Flying Duck. You can’t spell multi-hyphenate without hype, people.
The track comes accompanied by a music video from Chanthila Phaophanit and FAUZIA. In Chanthila’s words: “I think it's special that we literally met on the day, it was like a friendship forming in real time. And I really loved the conversations we had on the days we went filming, because the conversations informed the video. The more I understood FAUZIA the easier the edit got.”
FAUZIA expands: “The songs represent the different sides of me as an artist; it’s a reflection of all my musical interests. I was having a shit day before I met with Chanthila and I almost cancelled. But we ended up having such a nice day getting to know each other and going around London. The video is very reflective of me as a person, which I think is quite introverted and someone who tries to avoid being seen. I don't like being the subject or centre of attention so I wanted to create something that shows me in day to day life.”
