Fortuna comes from the typical “we should get together and make music”. At some point, we managed to make it happen. Jero would come to be on drums/drum machines - Pablo on trumpet - Lucas and Juan on guitar / voice.
However, the first time we met, which is basically the material featured in this demo, roles varied slightly for some songs, as in every first approach. “The ring of fire” has Pablo on guitar, “Una rosa (versión)” has Juan’s drum machine and Jero on synths (in fact the very first song we ever jammed to). Lilo was there having beers with us and mixing around. Lucas has always been on guitar and voice! Juan made some loops from the radio. All out from a pair of rotten speakers and guitar amps.
We kept on working on versions of the songs you can hear now, as well as on new ones, thinking we would eventually have better equipment to record them. For the time being, Jero and Lucas are back in México and Juan and Pablo remain in Madrid, so this is the only material there is for now. Just what was recorded on that first encounter among the four of us, around June of 2024?
Shout out to pariah.noises for the assist on this beautiful discovery. It's tough to wrap my head around just how good this album, and that of all possible realities we are in the one where someone created these sounds.
At moments on this record it feels like I am hearing what Duster would sound like to someone hearing their music for the first time beamed from another galaxy via interstellar transmission, or a lost 90's space rock tape that has been saturated in dirt from another planet. ghosttropics
Really dig this record- discovered in an NTS Kranky mix and after giving it some repeat listening felt I needed physical copy- excellent spacial drift buzz. Greg Hodgson Design
Dub influenced post punk on the left side, from Brussels with a Mancunian connection. Giulio is the son of Alan Erasmus one of the cornerstones of Manchester music due to his involvement in creating Factory. Solid modern music with heritage, recommended.. Jason Boardman
