Mantel Decor

I just built a mantle and fireplace surround to cover the hideous tile surround installed by some design-challenged builder. The walls in the room are a Sherwin-Williams color, a deep taupe/dove called 'Hiking Trail' that I love! The color I chose to paint the mantle is black. I like the contrast, the slightly edgy variant on the expected classic white mantle. Surprisingly, it seems to have changed the vibe of the entire room. Now, to decorate it!
