Barack Obama, the first African-American to ever be elected into office. This was a historic moment but it meant even more to African-Americans as he became a symbol of how African-Americans are NOT subordinate, to not assume that all African-Americans fall into a stereotype. He made the world a bit more "visible" when he was in office.

Neil Armstrong (1930-1912) The first man to walk on the moon in 1969. With his colleagues, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin in Apollo 11, Armstrong landed on the Moon's surface and made the statement that would be remembered for generations to come, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind"
