Handsewn dress

It's finished, it's actually completely, 100% done! It took hours upon hours, countless stitches, and lots of patience, but my completely handsewn, 1840's fan front, made from a sheet, dress is done! The pattern was a combination of two of the patterns from Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion 1. I sized up the 1840's dress pattern and the 1850's fan front bodice pattern. Completely hand sewn gown from the late 1770s in a reproduction cotton print. Bodice measures EDGE TO EDGE 35" bust and 26" waist. You will need to have measurements SMALLER than this to fit into the gown as-is (front edges overlap and are pinned shut). However, I also have 2 yards of this fabric so you can alter it as necessary, or add trim! I have always had a fondness for Dutch paintings from the 1650's and the 1660's. My favorite is Ter Borch, but Gabriël Metsu has painted my favorite dress and that became the dress my project was mainly based on.
