The Good Life

From the videos we watched of priests in their everyday life, it is easy to see they never have a boring day. Although a significant amount of their day is based on prayer and their priest duties, they do have down time. Father Matt always made exercise a priority and got to interact with many people whether it was through playing sports or talking to people throughout the campus. Three pins I thought stood out were a picture of a family watching a movie together, a priest in a confessional with the little boy and a priest marrying a husband and wife. The first picture that I picked was the family all sitting together on a couch, watching a movie. Although a priest cannot get married and have kids, this picture represents something many people want in their life. The majority of people I talk to say they want to get married and have kids at some point in life, including myself. This picture represents a good life to me, especially because I grew up in a different situation with divorced parents. I want to be apart of a family who has a good relationship with God and can always be there for each other. The second picture I picked was a priest offering penance to a little boy. This is an example of a common thing priest have to do daily. It is not as enjoyable as being apart of a marriage or baptism, but it is something good God has offered us. Through the priest we can be forgiven for our sins which I think signifies a good life. This picture shows that a priest's life is not always easy and happy because listening to people's sins for a long amount of time can probably have a negative effect on your mood. Lastly, I picked a picture of a priest marrying a couple. This signifies the good life for both the priest, the couple and their friends and family. Marriage is probably a good break for a priest from reconciliation and anointing of the sick which are both probably draining. Personally, I love to witness people being married and I think it is one of the most beautiful sacraments and a priest getting the witness that weekly can have a positive impact on their lives. It is also a positive situation for the couple obviously because you are surrounded by people you love while you are marrying your best friend.
