Rumination. Rumination is a compulsion and it keeps OCD alive and strong. Overthinking, questioning, analyzing, reviewing, and trying to solve something can all be part of rumination. Sometimes rumination can feel so hard to tackle because “thinking is what we do”. It is possible to tackle this sneaky compulsion. Start to reduce rumination by first developing awareness of when it’s happening and then by working on resisting that urge to figure something out you can eliminate it.
