Birds In My Yard

I have several bird feeders and bird houses in my back yard and have seen many different species of birds come by. The Red Cardinals live here year round and so do the House Finches and Bluebirds. Other birds like the Pine Warbler, Goldfinch, Indigo Blue Bunting, and a few others only come by in the Spring. I have yet to get a really good photo of the Goldfinches because they are so quick.

I took this photo yesterday July 6. The babies are getting bigger quickly. Pretty soon they will be leaving the nest.

Bluebird Fledgling
This little one started popping its head out of the birdhouse today. I don't know how many are in there but the female had at least four eggs.

Ruby Throated Hummingbird
The Hummingbirds have just started coming back around. (July 2020). The males started coming to the feeder first. There were a couple of females but the males chased them off. Hummingbirds are so greedy even though there are plenty of nectar ports.

This is the same male hummer. I had been standing at my glass storm door waiting for a female Bluebird to take worms to her babies and was waiting to get a photo of her at the birdhouse. This male hummer appeared so I took some pics of him instead.

This is the same male hummer. He looked directly at me and I caught this cute photo of him.

Grackle & Indigo Bunting
The Indigo Bunting is on the bottom of the feeder and the Grackle sits on the feeder arm. I don't particularly like the Grackles. The males and females both hog the food and intimidate the smaller birds. I'm glad the Indigo bird continues coming around.

Indigo Bunting
For the first time this month April 2020 I am seeing the Indigo Bunting bird. This photo obviously doesn't do it justice because the color of this bird is amazing. It stuck around for awhile and continues to return almost daily for food.
