Default 300 DVD compared to Blu-ray

A month or 2 ago somone posted a link to a site that had side by side comparrison pics of 300 upconverted DVD and Blu-ray/HD DVD. I wanted to show my friend those pics but I cant seem to find them through google and this site wont let me search "300" because it is to short a word. Does anyone have that link?

They SHOULD be indentical. Warner stated that they used the identical encoding on each format.

I can't read Spanish...so I don't know what their testing system is like.

I would imagine that they use the same player, just different media though. So it would be an upscaled DVD.

they have the exact same encode, bd gets an extra pcm track in place of hd dvd's hd extras.

if you actually see a difference it's due to the players, and possibly the extra processing done to get 1080p on the low-end hd dvd player. bd would output 1080p on a 1080p display whereas hd dvd would be a 1080i output de-interlaced by the tv to be 1080p.

I just purchased and watched the bluray version of 300 last night. Some friends and I compared the dvd version to the blu within minutes. The screenshots do not do 300 justice. It's an intentionally gritty/grainy film. The dvd's compression results in terrible macroblocking, it can't really handle the detail of the grain. In fact, this blocking and smudgy artifacting is present to the point of being distracting.

It could be even worse.
If the movie is encoded at 1080p 24 on the low end Toshiba, it get converted to 1080i 60 then your set has to do the 1080i 60 to 1080p 60.
A real side by side test would be outputting both at 1080p 24.
Then I believe the pics would be identical because the encoding is the same.
HD-DVD itself isn't as bad as some make it seem, it's the Toshiba players that suck.

The DVD isn't upconverted - instead the HD is downconverted to DVD resolution on that site.
