If you are buying new binding post, might as well use some decent banana plugs as well.

    Hi,
Thanks, I heard bad things about Banana Plugs, so never spent the money on them.
Is that the way to go?
    What about the Spades?
I guess at some point it comes down to opinion, AND...
Why do almost every Speaker Maker, put those funny little holes in the Binding Posts???

A better way, if you want to use the holes, is to put something like this on the end of your speaker cables and then you can clamp down on it with the binding post nut. They are called Speaker Pin Plugs and they come in flexible and rigid straight and rigid angled.

    Hi,
    Thank you!
Does that mean if I just soldered the Speaker Wire Ends before installing into the holes...
It would make a better connection?
I guess weather it is Wire, Banana Plugs, or Spades, loose connections seem to be the problem...

Loose connections AND oxidation AND conductivity of the materials. That solder will prevent oxidation but will have poor conductivity.

    Hi,
Well, knocked out a Crossover, this afternoon...
Two new Caps and a new Resistor!
Not really a usual Green Circuit Board?
Had to use a "Wide" Tip to get the Solder hot...
Plenty of room though, better than the KG-3...

Quality banana plugs or spades are the way to go. Anything bad you heard about banana plugs can be chalked up to poor quality versions used by cheap a$$ mofos.

    Hi,
Yea, I know you like those High Dollar Caps, but put these in my KG-3's and they sound great!
Will see what they do for a Polk??? B)

You likely didn't notice the glare in the KG3 because of their natural glare.

Dayton and Bennic (one and the same) as well as Solen in the high pass are poor choices. Clarity PX would have been a better choice for about the same money. Clarity CSA would be even better.

    Hi,
Well, pretty much knew that was coming, but...
Makes one wonder how good the "Made in Mexico", Caps were that Polk used originally???
Must of been pretty good, as the Monitor 7 Series are well liked???
    Thanks!

You have to understand that component technology wasn't as advanced back then. Also, any of the higher quality components that were available were not available in the quantity required for large scale production. Lastly, the bean counters always win.

So, while the bone stock speakers sounded good, properly modded ones sound great.

Yep, when you're saving a dollar per XO on caps and you're building 100,000 speakers, you're no longer saving just a dollar.

    Hi,
But, but, the Speaker has to stand on it's own, or it ends up at KMart! (years ago!)
I get the point, but curious on the difference...
At the end of the day, it's what pleases you (or not!)...
And, how much money you want to spend, and where you want to spend it, I guess!
    I'm happy, so I win...
Fixing to start replacing the Tweeters in my KG-3's rebuild...
Found some original Klipsch Ti Tweeters for a good price!
    Gotta love it!
    Thanks, for the help/insight!!!

    Hi,
    A question...
Does Polk Audio, know you Guys are running your own "Dog and Pony Show" over here, and...
Running people off, and giving Polk Audio, a bad name???
    Just wondering how this works?

Polk Audio is... well... between gigs at the moment.
We'll see what happens under Harman/Samsung.
One concern will be legacy product support, so, there's that.

It is safe to say that there's a substantial concentration of experts on the legacy (Matt Polk-era) hardware still on this forum, so, there's that, too.
We're actually pretty friendly, care deeply about a broad range of Polk-branded products (right up to the present, if there is a present for the brand), and rarely bite or scratch, but we do have our limits.

Being rude to someone who has been nothing but polite just because you don't agree with their viewpoint or consider it naive is a pretty sure way to guarantee the demise of this forum, which may well be on the chopping block already.

I will be happy to answer this one... most of the "dog and pony" stuff to which you so eloquently make reference to, is simply good-natured joking around wrapped within a tinge of sarcasm. No insult or harm is inferred or intended. Most of the advice given here is solid or better and based on decades of individual and hundreds of years combined experience. Jesse (F1nut) has more than a thousand years of experience just by himself, though most of us believe him to be far older than that.

My point is to simply let the sarcasm roll off your back and roll with the flow. Be slow to take offense, quick to learn, and if you choose to forge your own path, that is ok too. The advice offered was hard earned over decades, but it is up to you to decide its worth and what to do with it.
