these tube offerings are outrageously expensive IMHO …

Take a look at the 1st & 3rd offering… Is the Mad Russian in- line with current pricing?

There’s no question prices have gotten out of hand.

I bought several tubes from him in the past and he’s legit. But man, these prices are Cray Cray.

Sorry but if they are unused NOS, priced correctly IMHO.
I see similar tubes on ebay and many are priced $300-$600 a pair. The early long plates are getting very scarce. We ARE looking at the bottom of the barrel for those.
In the last 5 years I've seen the tubes double and quadruple in price.

Those are tightly matched, 100% NOS with a money back guarantee. Priced right, unfortunately. He sells just about everything he gets. And he gets some of the best of the best in small quantities.

Tubes have sky rocketed in price, even used tubes.

I'll be holding on to my vast stash based on current pricing and scarcity. I still manage to pick up a bargain or two. But you have to be diligent and scour a lot of ads on Ebay. Then asking the right questions and hopefully getting responses that actually answer your questions.

Take a look at Brent Jesse's site. His prices have gone up and his inventory has gone down. True, NOS, untouched tube stock is rare these days.

He's got a pretty big footprint on ebay these days.

    1) Chance favors the prepared mind.
    2) Depending on the - ahem - use case, good used tubes can be... good. I pick up every 6SL7 and 6SN7 I find... yes, I have an extremely motley array of them but there are plenty here to try when the time arrives so to do.

I kinda quit the hunting game, I look once in awhile but never really find anything. I feel lucky to have the little stash I have.
It makes it hard owning a SLP-05 but I love having it..

Same here. It does help to have @pitdogg2 nearby and in the contact list to help select the finest and not waste $$. @ALL212, also!

    There is a reason I have a pile of 6V6-oids in 7,8 & 9 pin bases.
    +1 on the 6s*7s too.

Speaking of 6V6 (oids), as has our good friend and trusted colleague, @tonyp063...
the 6AQ5 (essentially a 6V6 in a 7-pin miniature package) is a very fine little tube for a single ended or push-pull amplifier -- and (AFAIK) still of virtually zero interest to virtually anybody. :#

Perhaps the best sounding $30 amplifier I've ever stumbled across.
PP 6AQ5 = ca. 10 watts per channel

Looks like pricing isn’t going down anytime soon. I’ll have to restock in preparation for future needs and maybe be forced to go SS

I recently had to re tube one of my mono blocks… Not cheap.

4 - KT 120s new Russian (oem Krap) and

    2 - NOS 12 AU7 drivers and

    1 - NOS - 12AX7 input

Turns out KT 120s after the onset of the Ukrainian war reveals tons of inconsistencies and poor quality tubes. Anything built prior to the beginning of the war is far superior.

If anybody has 2022 KT 120s or earlier, I’m game as truck.… What you got John? I know you have a stash

Russia was always about quantity not quality when building tubes. They did have a few factories that were much better with the quality control, they typically built widgets for ICBM's sooo yea, mo'better😉
